Employment of towed decoys (AN/ALE-50, AN/ALE-55, B02D, Ariel, Sky Buzzer, etc.) has become one of the most state-of-the-art and efficient methods of generating pull-off jammers against angle trackers of homing missiles. The decoys radiate signals identical to backscatter signals of the towing aircraft. According to published data, tens of thousands of such decoys have by now been industrially produced. The decoy is designed to attract the attacking missile, which will save the towing aircraft from destruct by fire.
Technically, the problem consists in that angular resolution of the radar seeker does not ensure detection of presence of such a decoy for timely re-aiming at the aircraft.
